Purpose of Job 

This position is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing medical and non-medical equipment. Provides technical information or assistance to hospital personnel relating to medical instrumentation and use.

Job Functions 

1. Inspects, repairs, and troubleshoots the hospital’s electronic and medical electronic equipment using necessary electronic test equipment and service aids.
2. Tests specifications for each instrument and defines inspection cycles.
3. Maintains literature and keeps informed of new trends regarding equipment servicing, current codes, standards and evaluations.
4. Maintains biomedical department files, orders parts, and completes work orders and schedule of preventive maintenance records.
5. Manages and coordinates department responsibilities in the absence of the Biomedical Engineer Supervisor.
6. Partners with vendors to aid in quick medical equipment turnaround time, including equipment serviced under contracts.
7. Works closely and communicates with hospital departments and vendors to assure equipment is successfully implemented at go-live. This includes partnering with IT to determine equipment needs for IT support.
8. Collaborates with hospital departments on identifying and remediating equipment recalls.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience 

• CBET, A.A.S Degree- Biomedical Equipment Technology, or Military Biomed Training (certification)
• 4-6 years of Biomed experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

• Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
• Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
• Basic knowledge of cabling, functional patient care systems and equipment, and electrical troubleshooting
• Ability to read schematics
• Ability to multi-task
• Advanced computer hardware and software skills

License/Certifications 

• Valid MN driver’s license and meets Ridgeview’s insurability requirements
